Blocked, over flowing gutters?
Let our specialist experienced team help sort the problem, leaving your gutters unblocked, clean and safe.
Blocked gutters can prevent rainwater from draining correctly, causing water to overflow onto walls, windows and the areas around your property.
Leaves, moss, twigs and other debris gradually accumulate inside gutters. On some properties this can eventually form a surprisingly dense layer of material that restricts the movement of rainwater.
If the gutter becomes sufficiently blocked, rainwater can overflow rather than travelling towards the downpipe.
Our gutter clearing service removes this accumulated material from inside the gutter, helping restore the normal path for rainwater around the property.
Because we use specialist high-reach equipment, many gutters can be cleared without needing ladders positioned around the property.
Duncan's Window Cleaning provides professional gutter cleaning and gutter clearing for homes and businesses using a high-reach gutter vacuum system capable of reaching gutters up to 50ft from ground level.
Our camera inspection system allows us to see inside difficult-to-access gutters, identify areas where debris has accumulated and check the gutter after clearing.
We provide gutter cleaning across East Devon, West Dorset and South Somerset, including Axminster, Lyme Regis, Seaton, Sidmouth, Honiton, Exeter, Chard, Crewkerne and Yeovil.
Gutter Vacuum Cleaning
We use a professional gutter vacuum system with lightweight high-reach poles to remove debris from inside the gutter.
The vacuum allows us to extract material such as:
Leaves
Moss
Twigs and plant material
Silt and accumulated dirt
Roof debris
Organic matter
Our equipment can reach gutters up to 50ft high, allowing us to tackle many areas that would otherwise be difficult to access.
Working from ground level also means we can often reach gutters above conservatories, extensions, garages and other obstacles where conventional ladder access would be difficult.
Every property is different, so particularly difficult areas will be assessed before work begins.
If access to power is an issue, then we have generators to run the Vacuum.
Before Cleaning
Debris safely vacumned away, gutters checked and ready to go for another year
Camera Gutter Inspections
One of the difficulties with gutter cleaning is obvious: from ground level you normally can't see what's actually inside the gutter.
That's why we use a camera inspection system alongside our gutter vacuum equipment.
The camera allows us to inspect high-level gutters from the ground and identify where debris has accumulated.
It can also be used to check the gut
Blocked Gutters
There are several signs that your gutters may need attention.
You might notice:
Water overflowing during heavy rain
Water running down exterior walls
Plants or grass growing from the gutter
Visible moss or debris
Water spilling over a particular section
Gutters that appear full when viewed from an upstairs window
Persistent dripping after rainfall
However, a gutter can contain a significant amount of debris without showing an obvious problem from ground level.
If you're unsure of the condition of your gutters, we can inspect them and advise you on what is required.
Blocked Downpipes
Sometimes the gutter itself isn't the main problem.
Leaves, moss and other material can travel along the gutter and accumulate around the entrance to a downpipe, preventing water from draining correctly.
Where accessible, we can investigate suspected blockages around the top of the downpipe while clearing the gutter.
More substantial internal downpipe blockages can require additional work and aren't always possible to clear using standard gutter-vacuum equipment.
If you already know or suspect that a downpipe is blocked, tell us when requesting your quotation so we can assess the problem
What about Conservatories & Extensions
Conservatories, extensions, garages and adjoining buildings frequently make gutter access difficult.
This is one of the main advantages of our high-reach gutter vacuum system.
Rather than needing to position a ladder immediately beneath the gutter, our lightweight poles allow us to reach many gutters from a suitable position at ground level.
This means we can often clear gutters above:
Conservatories
Single-storey extensions
Porches
Garages
Outbuildings
Other difficult-access areas
Access still needs to be assessed on an individual property, but we'll explain what can and cannot be safely reached before carrying out the work.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
These are two different services, although customers often refer to both as "gutter cleaning."
Gutter Clearing
This involves removing leaves, moss and other debris from inside the gutter so that rainwater has a clear route towards the drainage system.
Gutter Cleaning
This involves cleaning the visible outside surfaces of the guttering to remove dirt, algae and staining, offen called Soffit and Fascia Cleaning
If your gutters are blocked internally, you may only require gutter clearing.
If they're working correctly but look dirty, you may only require exterior cleaning.
Or we can combine both services to clear the inside and improve the appearance of the outside.
-
Guttering has a straightforward but important job: collecting rainwater from the roof and directing it towards the property's drainage system.
When leaves, moss and other debris restrict that route, water can begin overflowing from the gutter.
Keeping gutters clear can help reduce the risk of water repeatedly running over areas where it isn't intended to go.
Gutter clearing is therefore preventative maintenance rather than simply a cosmetic cleaning service.
-
There isn't a universal schedule because every property is different.
A property surrounded by mature trees may accumulate leaves and organic debris much faster than a house in an open location.
Roof moss can also make a significant difference because pieces can gradually wash from the roof into the gutter.
For many properties, having the gutters checked periodically is sensible, particularly after autumn or if you've noticed overflowing water during heavy rainfall.
If we find very little debris when cleaning your gutters, there's little benefit in recommending unnecessarily frequent visits. We can advise you based on what we actually find at your property.
-
The price of gutter cleaning depends on the property rather than simply the number of bedrooms.
Factors include:
Length of guttering
Height of the building
Amount and type of debris
Access around the property
Conservatories and extensions
Number of separate roof sections
Difficult or restricted areas
Whether additional exterior cleaning is required
We'll assess the property and provide a clear quotation before carrying out the work.
If you'd also like your exterior guttering, soffits or fascias cleaned, let us know and we can quote for the services together.
